The US recently rolled back FCC regulation regarding ISP's and privacy laws.

One person decided to fight back in quite a personal manner.

Before the bill passed Tuesday, McElhaney created SearchInternetHistory.com (http://SearchInternetHistory.com), a website that aims to use the bill’s new power to crowdfund for the browsing histories of its biggest supporters. Currently, the website shows a poll for the first four possible targets: Blackburn, House Speaker Paul Ryan, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and FCC Chairman Ajit Pai.

That seems like fair game.

Although, to be blunt, this hubbub isn't all its cracked up to be. They aren't allowed to collect any Personally Identifying Information (PII), unless you specifically give it to them.

You have to give them a fair amount of PII when you sign up for an internet service account, don't you? SSN, name, address, phone number, blood sample, mother's maiden name, first-born child, and shoe size, for starters...

Comcast said they will not ever sell the info, so good for them if they hold to it.

This should also lead to an increase in VPN usage, I would think.

Also, if sites all start using HTTPS, would the IP still be able to track info from those sites?
