Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

There is little of all that we do which the eye of man can see. But we smooth out difficulties; we relieve stress; we correct mistakes; we take up other men's burdens and by our efforts we make possible the peaceful life of men in a peaceful state.”

I can't help but to think that the Jazz would kill for Markennan. They could trade Favors and let Lauri and Lyles handle the 4, rotating small with Lauri at 5 when Gobert is out. It won't happen unless the Jazz trade way up (which would probably cost them a lot more than Favors) but it is fun to think about the fit.
I wish the jazz would trade up and get lonzo. I think he is better than exum today.
USC up 9 with 5 min to play.

Since we beat USC by 22, this USC win, which puts USC at 18-4, has to make our body of work look better.

The fact that life evolved out of nearly nothing, some 10 billion years after the universe evolved out of literally nothing, is a fact so staggering that I would be mad to attempt words to do it justice.

We really should have beaten UCLA. If we miss the tourney that will be the one we look back at and kick ourselves.

Speaking of which I thought of you Saturday. Seth Davis was discussing the end of overtime in the DePaul Butler game. One team got a rebound with less than 10 seconds, pushed the ball upcourt and scored the winning basket as time expired. Seth said "I want to commend the coach who did not call time out. That is what you do; you never call time out in that situation, and most coaches do it anyway. So congrats to the coach." (I cant remember which team was which.)
Ha! That's nice of you but it's common sense. Pat has also been pissed about Kodiak's timeouts in those situations--which seem never to work out. End of game, your team rebounds the ball or steals it, and the margin is one score, it's just one of those terrifying times in life where you have to cede control and hope for the best to maximize the chance for success. It's every parent's biggest anxiety, but ultimately a great coach and a great parent makes him or herself irrelevant.

USC trailed 37-27 at the half last night vs. UW and scored 55 points in the second half en route to an 82-74 win over the Huskies. Keep that RPI top 25 win alive for us boys!
