So I said to David Eckstein, "You promised me, Eckstein, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I noticed that during the most trying periods of my life, there have only been one set of prints in the sand. Why, when I have needed you most, have you not been there for me?" David Eckstein replied, "Because my little legs had gotten tired, and you were carrying me." And I looked down and saw that I was still carrying David Eckstein.

I have forgotten the rules. Not only can you pick a team to win only once, you can also only pick a team to lose once. Is that correct?

Apparently in AppleJack's kangaroo court, those are the rules.
“It only ends once. Anything that happens before that is just progress.”

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Yes, once to win, once to lose. That is so that you don't simply pick against the worst team in the conference every week. It is referred to colloquially as the "Oregon State rule."

I was going to sacrifice my place in the survivor pool for the good of the program and pick Arizona for some good reverse karma for the Utes...but no, I'm going with Utah.

Having shared last year's title because I refused to pick against Utah when given the opportunity mano y mano with Concerned, your sacrifice rings hollow, especially this early in the pool. Who are you trying to kid?

It's the nagging ache that I didn't win officially that drives me to win it all this season, no questions asked.
