This promises to be a good read, especially if we get the real dirt on his recruitment.

If you live in NYC, Billy is making a public appearance tonight

What is the unofficial skinny on his recruitment? I ask because I had never heard about it before.

Bill Walton had a great article about him probably 10 years ago. I will try and find it.

The word is, Billy's grades made him a highly suspect recruit for any school. Given his talent and where he ended up, Utah was a huge target in the eyes of the NCAA and rival western schools. It was a pair of minor football and basketball violations that got the 1962 team (when McGill was a senior) put on probation. Being a Final Four team the year before, we were bonafide national title contenders.
