I think Mr Dabakis is (as usual, IMO) being a little bit overly hysterical and theatrical about this, but it is an interesting point.

I think that there are a lot of good things about both local papers. I think they each have their strengths and weaknesses. I hope both can stay.

His use of the word "diabolical" is definitely over the top, but the argument about the Trib being undermined by its corporate owner is probably accurate. I hope the Trib survives. The DNews has become less of a professional news gathering organization and more of a place where aspiring LDS writers can share their views on subjects directed at a primarily LDS audience.
