The Stanford fans who showed up for this game must be much bigger hoops fan than football fans. (The Rose Bowl game just ended a few minutes ago.)

Anyway, here's a thread. So far our three-point defense has been decent, but we're only 9 minutes in.

Itd be nice if Brandon Taylor could make a shot

Our perimeter-players are not good. Many of them still don't understand the game. Horrible passing angle. Bad defensive positions. Still can't shoot.

Too bad Reyes is so bad under the basket.

I wish Adrian would learn to pronounce LK's name.

That 2-3 zone had really bugged Utah this second half.

Offensively, yes. He is our leading rebounder so far this game.

Time for Poeltl to finish this game

U-Ute

I love how aggressive Poeltl was on that. He grabbed the ball and went up.

Someone should hand Chapman his jock back after that one.

17 turnovers. That had kept Stanford in it.

Our 18th turnover committed in crunch time by our senior leader after he misses another couple of crucial free throws. This is awful to watch.

Kuzma and Bonam have the aggressive gene. Nobody else comes close.

Missing 4 straight free throws that would have won the game is not "may". If Utah loses its 100% on them.

Utah players kept saying about learning from bad losses -- not sure they have learned. If they did, well, I guess the learning capacity isn't high.

We definitely earned the loss.

Not a very common quality of a Krystkoviak team. Thankfully.

We flat-out got outplayed.

The lack of mental toughness and focus in crunch time goes back a few years. I thought this group had gotten past that last season. We'll just have to see how/whether they progress.

Injury to insult...my 7 year old daughter just threw up all over the place...which reminded me of the last minute of regulation all over again.

Loveridge's troubles reminded of a question I've been asking myself. This is not an angry question, because I'm not really angry about tonight, just a little amazed. Why does Loveridge get the minutes he gets? Seriously, what is it that he adds to the team that makes him so valuable? With the regular disappearing acts that most of us comment on, I am wondering why he is worth starting and getting all those minutes with that inconsistency. The play tonight that stands out to me is the Stanford dunk (by Roscoe Allen?) when Chapman lost his footing and Allen blew right past Loveridge, who put on a bit of classic matador defense. He just stood there flat-footed.

So what am I missing that Jordan gives us?

I don't agree that Utah got outplayed. Utah is the better team and just gave it away with poor FT shooting and some really bad TO's.

The officiating was pretty atrocious in its own right. That 5th foul on Poetl in particular was one of the worst I've ever seen, particularly considering it took him out of the game after he was singlehandedly dominating Stanford down the stretch.

I don't disagree. It's just a matter of how you define "outplayed." The team that makes the least mistakes usually wins, especially in close games. Stanford played smart, error-free basketball and we did not. To me that means we got outplayed. It doesn't matter what we call it, we absolutely deserved the loss.

We need a ~6'8" Goofball who can hit a Three or take it to the rack when nobody else can get it going.
We could have used Collette tonight.

I'm overjoyed that I didn't watch this game. Reading the final 40 seconds of the play-by-play log makes me nauseous. Watching it would've led me to throw something at the TV.

My guess is you would have experienced multiple episodes of Nolanesque responses. It really was that bad at the end. I don't know if I've seen a team collapse like that in a long time.
