Great article.

The source material cited in the Boston Globe is worth a read as well. It will make you think twice and do some research before participating in a charity event to support an athlete's foundation.

As someone who with foster kids, I can't say enough about how far having someone believe in you can take these kids.

Yeah and here's how other charities operate. Great job, Alex Smith!

A foundation started by New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez gave only 1 percent of proceeds to charity during its first year of operation in 2006, then stopped submitting mandatory financial reports to the IRS and was stripped of its tax-exempt status. Yet the group's website still tells visitors the A-Rod Family Foundation is a nonprofit organization.
