I'm three episodes into the British series, Foyle's War, and I'm enjoying it. Set during the Second World War in England, it mixes history with detective fiction. Most of the murders relate, somehow, to events stemming from the war.

I recommend it. Each episode is about 90 mins, and it's like a movie.

I'll second that. I saw on PBS a few yrs ago (IIRC it was the Masterpiece Theatre Mystery rotation)

It's on Amazon Prime.

It's on both. If I'm using my laptop, I go with Netflix, but when I use by Blu-Ray player, Amazon Prime's signal is absolutely perfectly crystal clear. I think Netflix has 6 seasons. The first four seasons are four episodes each, the last 2 are 3 each. The show is still on, so it's not the complete run on Netflix. Amazon also has the first 6 seasons for free for Prime members. There are 8 seasons total. It was cancelled in 2010, and then brought back.
