There are two arguments against armed UAVs in military operations. The first is that armed UAVs are typically used against particular individuals rather than the mass of enemy personnel or against installations supporting the enemy. Because only particular individuals are targeted, it is said that the use of armed UAVs is against the laws of warfare. The second argument is that because the use of UAVs does not put pilots at risk it makes warfare less painful for the government using them. Both of those arguments have some validity, but ultimately fail.
