I went to a funeral for a friend today. Though I had known this man for several years, since moving into my current ward, I learned many things about him that I had not known. He helped design an aircraft-to-carrier system for the U.S. Navy and spent 2 weeks aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) testing it. How did I not know that?! I would have loved to chat about that with him. I can't help but think we could have been better friends if not for my being overly quiet at times. I'm not much of a talker, I find small talk difficult, but I could have said more. You never know how quickly things can change. I last talked to him back in January. He was diagnosed with cancer in February, and 40 days later he was gone.
