It will take a while for the world to catch up. Soccer is the world's sport, but women's soccer is an American invention. It's a shame because the games are unwatchable.Quote:

That probably plays a role. For many decades, soccer has been the primary sport for US girls. Title IX can probably take part of the credit but not all. Our girls have grown up playing it. That is not true of our boys (there is competition from football, baseball, and basketball). It is also not true of other nations. In Latin America, for example, volleyball has been the primary sport for girls. Other nations are still a decade behind in women's soccer. It's a shame because US women's soccer could be very exciting if there was some decent competition.Quote:

Your point about your girls knowing all the names of the US soccer team players underscores my point. There aren't girls in France, Argentina, or England who know the names of their national team players. That's the difference in competition.
