Plaschke, as usual, is not convincing. He does list a few good options, though, in case Urban doesn't want back in. Franklin and Rhule seem like good hires. Or maybe Bohn steals Fickrell from Cincy.
Obviously I could be very wrong, but I don't see why Urban would be interested.

FWIW, Pete Thamel agrees with Plashke, and includes a KW reference. He points out that Brohn has no close ties to Urban, and that USC could have but did not hire an AD with close ties, if Urban were their choice.

I think they've probably felt out the Urban situation, and he has told them he's not interested. James Franklin would be a home run. As would Kyle. Anyone else on Thamel's list comes with at least some risk. Still amazing that USC fell for the old interim coach trap.

If Urban wants to be there, they should hire him. He's the closest thing to a sure bet that exists.

I'm not sure USC can afford anything else that closely resembles a scandal in athletics. I can see why the school president would shy away from Urban.

Bohn didn't know until AFTER he agreed to take the job? I find that impossible to believe. That is the first thing they should of discussed--is there anybody I cant hire? Especially if other applicants were told BEFORE. If true, both Bohn and the school pres are incompetent.

And why would Urban accept the job under these circumstances? I still cant believe he would be interested.

I'm not sure USC can afford another botched hire either, though. Urban's scandals are pretty small time.
