Devil's Gate: a must read

This is a great book. It was hard to read the first chapter with a dry eye. My great great grandmother was one of Patience Loader's sisters, whose accounts serve as the principal record cited by church members worldwide.

I'd been told the stories of the Martin handcart company by her great granddaughter, my dear grandmother, as a child so it was fascinating to read the actual words my great great great aunt wrote about the ordeal. The book is an exceptional read and strikes a great balance.

It's hard not to be proud of being a descendent of a mormon pioneer.
