One thing I have learned in a long life: that all our science, measured against reality, is primitive and childlike -- and yet it is the most precious thing we have.

    --Albert Einstein

The fact that life evolved out of nearly nothing, some 10 billion years after the universe evolved out of literally nothing, is a fact so staggering that I would be mad to attempt words to do it justice.

Whelp I was really, really wrong. Never felt better about it.

Uh-oh. We're in for some serious (and well-deserved) gloating.

I just wish we still had Kalani Sitake because, you know, he's such a defensive genius, and Whit never gave him any opportunities and just used him and took all the credit.

Seriously, I know cougjunkie accuses me of knowing nothing about sports, even though I see the future a lot more often than he does. I know a lot about discrete subjects. I've lived and died with the Utes since I was six; I've seen their darkest days, which is why I appreciate Kyle so much. And here in Seattle I know more about these two teams -- the Duck and the Utes -- and Kyle Whittingham's character -- the combination of these arcane facts -- than maybe anyone. Nothing about tonight surprised me. And I'm very happy for Travis. There's no cliché that's more true than Rome wasn't built in a day. I look forward to following his NFL career, which I've anticipated for years, the record will show. Have we ever had a tougher player than that kid? I love Travis. I really do.

I think you were just being rational and basing your prediction on what we had all seen up to that point. No one expected what happened tonight. There are thousands of surprised Utes fans tonight. (Delighted but surprised.)

I will gladly continue to throw this competition if the football gods require that sacrifice of me for the good of the Utes.

Can someone explain to me how this matrix works? I can't figure out how SU and Wally had the same points but had significantly different predictions.

    Wally:
+34 --> Picked winning team (all or nothing).
+0 --> Utah score prediction was off by 20+ so he doesn't get any points as there is a reduction of 5% for each number off (33 x .00).
+26.4 --> Oregon score was off by 4, so his points are reduce by 20% (33 x .8)
    = 60.4 total

    SeattleUte
+34 --> Picked winning team (all or nothing)
+4.95 --> Utah score prediction was off by 17, so his points are reduced by 85% (33 x .15)
+21.45 --> Oregon score was off by 7, so his points are reduced by 35% (33 x .65)
    = 60.4 total

Bro, don't hate the player, hate the game. Also, don't question authority.
