Time to Stomp The Sun Devils, 2016

Let's get this one going. The Utes are due to beat a PAC-12 opponent soundly, and it might as well be ASU, on the Sun Devils' home field. Let the thread begin. May Todd Graham be left with nightmares.

How the Arizona Republic newspaper saw yesterday's loss to Oregon. There's trouble in paradise.

Our pass defense can make most qb's look pretty good. (Partly TIC)

ASU is 5-4 and faces us, Washington, and Arizona down the stretch. This is their last home game of the season and they too have a bye, so the motivation will be plentiful for the Sun Devils. This could be another 300+ yard game for Joe Williams. I think if we can just avoid big momentum shifting mistakes, we should be able to win this one. Stranger things have happened, but I'm hopeful that all the frustration of the UW loss will fuel this team for the next 10 days or so.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Agreed. I am sure they will watch the UW game video and not only get angry at themselves over how close they came, but also get super-motivated for the same reason.

Grumblin' Joe's stats have been unbelievable. If he pulls a 200+ yard game against ASU you got to believe he is a lock for the NFL. What a story that would be...

Sounds like McCormick could also be back.

It would be fun to beat a PAC-12 opponent soundly.

Given our play at Cal and OSU this year and at UA last year, I would not expect to be anybody soundly on the road.

ASU beat Utah 11 straight times dating back to 1977 until last year when the good guys prevailed in SLC. They have visiting teams facing the press box - unlike nearly every other program in the nation - so they can steal signs. It isn't illegal but it is low.

ASU is a special kind of bad, the kind where they make other bad teams look like things might be turning around for them. You guys should roll through this one.

Hoping for that, and for many long close-ups of Todd Graham's face during the game.

I will trust your judgement. After all, you've been watching the Ducks this season, so ASU probably feels familiar.

Utah doesn't roll through anything. See: Every game this year.

I am ashamed to admit I wasn't aware of this.

This makes my whole day. Thanks!

BUT....we did score 52 on the road and the defense we'll bring to ASU should be better!

If ASU becomes bowl eligible, let it be after Thursday.

This game should have Harding and A-Rod salivating, not just because the Devils are beat up and the subs have struggled with assignments, but because ASU was ripping off our signs last year... AT OUR HOUSE.

They'll be expecting us to play mashball, and if that works... I don't care, just win.

But if they're expecting us to smack them, why not let Troy and the receivers get some big chunk yardage early, so we can play smashmouth in the 2nd half, see how close to a real 3 hour telecast we can get?

  29. #29
Why do you all think that we're going to be able to rush all over ASU? Don't they have one of the stiffer rushing defenses in the conference? I know that Whittingham even made some comment about it in today's press conference about how their loading the box to sustain their love of blitzing makes it harder to run on them. It's the awful passing defense where teams have managed the most success against them. Most recently with Oregon's freshman QB being able to torch them for nearly 500 yards.

Also saw a note that ASU expects to have about half of their injured players back for this game. Including their starting QB. I haven't paid enough attention to them to know what this means for us, but something to make note of.

Also, the line came out yesterday as Utah -5.5.

The way I'm wired, based on history I've lived through, it will never be easy for us in Tempe; it will never be easy for us in the desert. To make matters worse, they're just bad people down there, the coaches, the fans, all of them. I'd be thrilled with a one point victory.
One thing I have learned in a long life: that all our science, measured against reality, is primitive and childlike -- and yet it is the most precious thing we have.

The fact that life evolved out of nearly nothing, some 10 billion years after the universe evolved out of literally nothing, is a fact so staggering that I would be mad to attempt words to do it justice.
