LA RB Devin Brumfield picks the Utes!

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Lewis is going to be a stud. I had him as a starter day 1 last year. The crazy thing is, with JJ and Blackmon and Guidry and Smith and the rest of the CB’s, he’s going to have to fight for playing time.

    Another reason Hughes left.

Against my instincts, I checked in on the Tre’Shaun Harrison announcement. He did the hat switcharoo to a new level by pulling in family members in Utah and Oregon sweatshirts only to get into debates with them on his final pick before playing the FSU fight song and pulling his mom from the hallway in her Seminoles shirt. Dumb.

Apparently this guy was someone else who is also going to Utah as a preferred walk on. Enis then also picked the Utes!

Feels good to grab a top WR. I'm not sure what percentage of 4* WRs work out. It'll be huge for us if he's on the right side of that stat.

  14. #344
We talk about the Utes not being able to hold on to the instate recruits? Look at Arizona. Wow.

Sewell set to announce at 3:00 PM. Bartle was on with Bill and said that he'd put it at 85% Oregon 15% Utah, but that the family was really pushing him to go to Utah. So you're saying there's a chance.

Didn’t pick Utah.....he picked “Oregon University”. Not sure where that is.

Is that it then? Still waiting on anyone?

Only big surprise went our way, right?

I think so. The only letter that I don't see "in" on UtahUtes.com is Pututau.

Word is he likely won’t sign because of numbers and his mission, but apparently he’s been telling anyone who asked for the last week he was going to Utah. Seems he’s very solid.

So, how does this class stand up to previous recruiting classes? Seems pretty solid to me.

I think it’s our best class rankings wise.

Tuttle and Enis really push it higher

247 and Rivals both put us 6th in the conference. We're usually down in the 8-10 range, so this is quite good.

This class is also the best because it’s not heavily JUCO dependent. It will make a big difference to the program if we can keep this up long term.

A fascinating thing for me would be to take a class and its relative ranking at the beginning and then at the end of 4 years. So what happened to those 20-25 guys? NFL draft, all-American, all-conference, etc and give them a ranking. It would be interesting to see what coaches actually develop talent, etc.

The reason I mention this is year after year we are 8-10 in the conference in recruiting, but we seem to outperform our recruiting quite a bit.

Basketball has been the same. I feel we are fortunate here where both head coaches achieve greater results than recruiting results might predict.

Just based on number of NFL draftees and players.

I just noticed that Tafua, Lewis and Moala were added to our commits list, but with no rankings. If they do add those in and give us credit for the 11-12 stars those three carry, we will jump up higher in the rankings.

Whitt said Lund will start out at LB. He said he is 250lbs, a little too big for RB. Who knows if he can play this year.

This class is incredible. I think what makes it even more incredible is that we missed on some guys. That is what gives me the most hope. This wasn't some "hit on every single crazy high commit that we wanted" class. Hopefully this level of talent in the class becomes the norm and the "great" classes become the ones where the Sewell's and Latu's and Kaho's commit to Utah.

Whitt brought this up. From what he said, it sounds like this year is a little bit of an anomaly and that he expects us to consistently have a couple more JC kids in every class.

    Finally, think about this:

We bring back 75% of our players that get big playing time from last year. AND, we will bring back approx 75-80% of our team that gets big playing time this year for 2019.

2018 and 2019 should be banner years for Utah. The next two years should be a lot of fun. I expect another 20+ wins the next two years.
