And I’m sure I-15 being completely closed from 9000 S to I-215 from 7:20 PM on didn’t help....the roads were disasters, nowhere for people to go.

Not entirely; there were some people sitting in the upper level, both at mid court and above the Muss. The Muss turnout was surprisingly good under the circumstances I thought. it was mostly full below concourse. But overall the crowd was sparse. Lots of empty seats below the concourse. Sunday could be really brutal.

With Tillman, Barefield, Seeley, and Johnson forming a returning core, we'll need at least 2 of our 4 newcomers to seriously produce. That's asking a lot, considering how many 3/4 star recruits end up doing nothing.

Maybe next year's incoming players from the strong recruiting class will be the answer going forward.
Pre comment note: I am not directing this at LA Ute or anyone else, I just quote it here because the comment led me to the podcast.

I get a kick out of Swinney when he breaks down basketball, so after reading your comment I headed over and found the segment. Swinney did not disappoint! Among my favorites (his quotes are in quotes, as best as I could get)

"Problem is, your best guy is sitting on the bench right now with an injury in Donnie Tillman" (Tillman played 27 minutes against USC and scored 10 points with 4 boards- one of the few bright spots)

"We haven't seen development out of Jayce Johnson. Essentially none." (This has to be a joke. Hes no Poeltl but no one who has paid attention would say this. This was on the heels of a 14 point, 9 board game, the best of his career)

"Your best offensive weapon is Tyler Rawson" (I am a Rawson supporter, but he is the 5th leading scorer in conference play.)

"Youre not finishing in the top half of the conference if Tyler Rawson is your best player." (Yeah.........but............ughhhhhhhhhh)

It got better from there but these were some of the worst takes Ive ever heard.

Maybe we need to up our self appointed media folks from MWC to Pac-12 levels? I mean Swinney couldn’t even stay retired for an entire year.

I'm glad we have Rawson, which is big progress for me. I'm also grateful that he provides a counterexample to advanced stats. According to PER, he's the best player on our team. If our Pac-12 dissolved Utah basketball tomorrow and had a draft, he would not be one of the first players selected.

I wonder if we'll give up on starting Bealer/Caldwell/PVD and start Tillman as a SF instead.

He's started the last two. I imagine he will stay there.

Utes by 12 tonight (per Vegas).

Article today in Trib really talked up Devante Doutrive--currently red-shirt. He was a 4*/top 100 player.

Short for Fredrick? Not a good name. Not as bad as Kodi with an "i", but not a winner.

I wish we had Bibbins for another year. He's so good.

I’m not used to watching Barefield play defense. Not bad.

Solid win. 4-4 and right in the middle of the conference. Would love to see a split this week.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Running it back this week in Washington. The Huskies are coming off of being swept against the Oregon schools, so they will be looking to get a little mojo back of their own. This one feels like it could be a slug fest for us, and would go a long ways towards pushing us up near the top of the league and challenging for that #4 seed in Vegas. A loss makes the WSU game a must-win just to keep pace and end the weekend 8-7, with three straight at home to finish things out.

Calling my shot: If we beat Washington, we make the tournament. We will have business to take care of in the meantime but it won't be insurmountable.

I am very optimistic for Vegas. The league is wide open this year, and we've been better/equal to Arizona for 50 of our 80 minutes played. A semifinal or final against UA would be beyond epic.

Tonight feels like the biggest game of the year to this point. An at large becomes almost impossible with a loss. Hoping that the guys are dialed in and ready to go!

Given our performance at Colorado, and UW's performance at home against the Arizona schools, I would be very surprised if we won. Hope Im wrong, of course

If we really have to win out in order to get an at-large, every game is the biggest game of the year.

I think we at least split this trip. If not, then we have to sweep USC/UCLA/CU to have a chance at a 4 seed and a decent run in the conference tournament.
