The Trojans: History's most gullible losers.. Utah vs USC thread

Game is on Pac12 Network at 8pm Eastern Standard Time

    Opening Line is Utah -6.5

With Gustin out and Smith hobbled, I hope we see a steady dose of Moss, who really had his coming out party last year against this defense.
“It only ends once. Anything that happens before that is just progress.”

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

If that's effective for us, I think we win. USC's run defense looked strong vs Colorado. There was high praise for Jay Tufele.

In fact, that might be the key match up. If they stop our run game, I'm not sure what we do. It will be interesting to see how our offense reacts if things don't go smoothly.

We need Daniels to make freshman on the road in a tough environment kind of mistakes.

    I don’t understand that line.

The fact that life evolved out of nearly nothing, some 10 billion years after the universe evolved out of literally nothing, is a fact so staggering that I would be mad to attempt words to do it justice.

It's just the opener. I bet it opens at the casinos at 4.5.

I take that back. William hill and the wynn have it at 6.5. I gotta think the sharps push this to 4 by gametime

I imagine Vegas lines are partially determined by ranking algorithms, and the ranking algorithms love us in this game.

This is correct. Sagarin has us favored by 9.5, for example.

I don’t think the sharps will be on USC for this game. I think they’ll wait for square money to drive it down, then hammer it at whatever it’s at Saturday afternoon.

Utah will be wearing their ‘UU’ throwback jerseys for the USC game. I really like those uniforms.

    Nice piece. I’m excited!

Lots of confidence in the predictionthresd for a win today. I’m getting kind or nervous. Hopefully it’s just my Ute Fan PTSD. Like my golf swing, we don’t often string 3 good ones a row.

We have a history of falling flat on our face when favored in a big game. It has me concerned.

I hear you but I am going to show up and enjoy the game while trusting that the coaching staff has at last figured out how to avoid this phenomenon.

I think it generally happens against more talented teams. We can be favored against USC, but we'll never be the stronger, faster, deeper, more athletic team. We've been playing better than USC, but USC is capable of playing better than us. I think that's why we're concerned. It's the same reason we're going to be more concerned about UCLA next week than about ASU the following.

Bill Riley keeps plugging this game as the “biggest game of the PAC-12 era.” I’m not sure where he’s coming from on that take. Sure, it’s a big game where a win would put us in good position to finally win the south. But we’ve had multiple games where we just had to win that game and we would have won the south. That seems like a “bigger” game to me. Given our history with “biggest games,” I really hope the players don’t believe Bill Riley.

A win would keep us in the hunt, but we'd still just be one of many 2-loss teams.

We've had many bigger games in the Pac-12. This game is no bigger than the UW game earlier this year.

Twitter just told me that our 541 yards is the most ever for Utah in the Pac-12. Back to back to back 40 point games.

That was completely ones-sided. We made three of the worst kind of mistakes you can make in a game, and we still won easily. Started down 14-0 and came back with a vengeance. Huntley made great throws and runs. Chase Hansen is a god. Moss was brutal.

It's crazy to think that our path to the south title will require wins over UCLA, ASU, and CU on the road and Oregon at home. I'm feeling good with how we've been playing, but the schedule is just so tough.
