I think that's the only option if this team wants to be even middle-of-the-PAC competitive. I think this team is going to have a hard time scoring and would have to hope to win a lot of 62-56 type of games. Per SeattleUte, Larry is NOT Rick Majerus so that's probably not happening.

I wasn't able to attend NWTRU because I was busy measuring my manhood (by way of racing homemade wooden cars with my kid) against the other dads in my neighborhood. All of the reports from that night confirmed what I feared: this team doesn't have a lot of shooting or offensive firepower in general.

If Timmy and Gach (our likely top two scorers IMO) average about 30 between them--which would be great progress--I still don't know where we get another 30-40 ppg.

I'll still attend/watch the games and hope these guys prove me wrong, but my heart isn't really in it right now. I just want to fast forward to April/May and see who decides to stick around and hope that Larry can keep enough talented kids to combine with talented incoming recruits and give me some hope for better things in 20-21.

my best guess ( the saddest part of this is I don't know how we don't start 0-6 in conference. The 1st half of our conference schedule is definitely more difficult than the last half )

    L @ Nevada
    W – MS Valley
    L – Minnesota
    W – Coastal
L- 2nd game of Myrtle Beach Tourney
L – 3rd game of Myrtle Beach Tourney
    W – UC Davis
    L – BYU
    W – Central Arkanasas
    W – Weber State
    L – Kentucky
    L – SDSU

    L – OSU
    L – Oregon
    L - @ Colorado
    L - @ UA
    L - @ ASU
    L – UW
    W – WSU
    L - @ USC
    L - @ UCLA
    W – Stanford
    W – Cal

10 wins, I hope this is the worst case scenario and we exceed that total

I think we've got a decent shot against Minnesota. They've lost one of their best players for the season and I think they play Butler earlier that week on the road. Call me crazy, but I'll always give us a puncher's chance against Steve Alford as well.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

You dream too small! I'll go ahead and dream of the tournament until reality tells me otherwise. Until I see these guys play, I'm going to assume that Rylan is all-freshman team material, that Timmy has made a sophomore leap, and that it actually made no sense to have Thione on the bench last year. The two RMs don't need any adjustment time, and the Finn is our next Euro-star.

    Amen!

The problem with your assessment in your opening paragraph is that this team sounds a lot like what we had to do to win under Larry in Year 2.

Well, I am on record as saying that this will be our roughest season since before Delon Wright showed up, so that sounds about right. I see this team winning somewhere in the range of 12-15 games, hoping they prove me wrong.

He's gotta overdeliver then this year. There are a lot of reasons that could be legitimate behind a poor record. Larry doesn't get a pass for any of them unless he's willing to restructure his contract. This is a mess of largely his own making -- he fully owns it this year.

Without some real highlights this year (beating UK and/or BYU, making a deep run in Vegas, getting to the NIT), simply making it to the NCAAs in 2020-21 just isn't going to cut it. He needs to win a game or two. His goodwill tank is about empty and the less he has to fill next season, the more likely it is he gets to coach the penultimate year of his contract.

    Agreed on all counts.

I could care less what his contract is and restructuring it isn't going to make me more or less inclined to accept where this program is.

Our secret scrimmage was Boise St, right? Oregon is destroying them right now.

Also, our next opponent, Minnesota, lost to Oklahoma today.

Minnesota also gets Butler before we play them on Friday, so we'll be the third of a three game roadie for them. They then go home for four games that includes DePaul and Clemson, so hopefully they'll build their resume back up a little and stay as a top 100 game for us (and hopefully top 100 win!).
