    I wonder if the rumor mill on this was humming 2 years ago. Might explain Hill's hesitance to hire Bennett.

    It would be a significant drawback to hiring Bennett. Don't penalties follow coaches from program to program? We couldn't afford to hire anyone who couldn't recruit off campus for a year. (At the same time, if Bennett knew about this potential, and the penalty wouldn't follow him, why wouldn't he have jumped, a la Pete Carroll). It ain't a show-cause penalty, but I can't think of a penalty handed down as severe as this one in some time. This type of development is enough for me to change my tune on Hill with regard to allegedly botching this hire.
