    Post where you served.

I thought it would be interesting to see where others served their missions.

I served in what was called the Austria Vienna South mission. It consisted of Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia. Each country was broken up into into zones and I was fortunate to serve in Slovenia from May 1997-March 1999. Loved every minute of it!!

Side note-now each country has their own individual mission, with the exception of Bosnia, I believe. I don't think we have missionaries there right now, but I could be wrong.
    War UTAH!!!

Brasil São Paulo North, 77-79. Loved it there. The hoop team travelled all around those areas last Summer. Wish i could have joined them!

From what I can tell, there are 5 missions there now.

Russia Moscow South Mission 2003-2005. What was my mission has been broken up and split between several different missions now. Moscow wasn't technically part of our mission but the mission office was there so I spent a good deal of time there. I served in the City of Smolensk (huge WWII city and I am sure USS Utah would love to visit there to see some of the sights and battlefields) and one of the oldest cities in Eastern Europe, followed by Ryazan, and finished my mission in Minsk, Belarus.

Loved it. Love the people. Love the food (mostly). Wouldn't go do it again if you paid me.

New Hampshire, Manchester. At the time parts of NY, VT, NH, ME, and Mass, but no whole state. Served near the Joseph Smith birthplace memorial and held district meetings there. Loved coastal NH ( Portsmouth) The r.s there was known for their 'Exponent' tendencies.

P.S. met my wife while she was serving as a J.S birthplace memorial visitors center missionary.

No temples First shall be last and last shall be first i guess . . .

Guatemala-El Salvador Mission, 1973-75. A single mission then, with only one stake, in Guat City. Now multiple missions, multiple stakes - some based in towns that the missionaries considered "holes."

Not to mention 3 temples there now -- two in Guatemala and one in El Salvador.

To anyone who served in El Salvador, watching this video is a very emotional experience. The accents, the clothing, the dances. Terrific:

The fact that life evolved out of nearly nothing, some 10 billion years after the universe evolved out of literally nothing, is a fact so staggering that I would be mad to attempt words to do it justice.

    That's not Russia.

Ukraine is a different country FYI.

The most interesting thing about seeing the mission years is figuring out how old/young posters compared to my previous impression of their age.

Looks like I'm the same age as Wuap and Flystripper and was in Kiev.

I think that is where members from my mish go to the temple now. Or maybe Helsinki. Used to be Sweden.

People probably thought that I was 13 until now.

Hey, you've gotta watch the video. The temple serves part of Russia and one of the kids interviewed is Russian. And isn't the language most of them are speaking Russian? So therefore I drew the unremarkable conclusion that those who served in Russia would enjoy the video.

    Jerk.

(For those who don't know: I kid. Cardiac and I are friends.)

Yeah, I've watched that a few times before and know there are a ton of Russians in the video -- just trying to stand up for my nationalistic Ukrainian peeps.

Italy Catania, 83-85. Spent all but 5 months on Sicily. Three years ago, the mission was dissolved and annexed into the Italy Rome mission.

When I served, there was one stake in Italy which was located in Milan and no temples. Today, there are 8 stakes and the Rome Temple is scheduled for completion sometime in 2014.
