Utes win it! 3-1 Watrous an amazing 1st start with 12Ks, Chapman gets the Save.
I missed following the game today, but we dropped it 2-1, giving up an unearned run with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th
Banks pitched into the 9th, giving up only 4 hits, but his error was the runner who scored off of relief pitching. After a couple of solid games, the bats have faltered. Pitching has been good enough to be 10-2, but we are 6-6 instead. Hopefully we can win the next two and finish the preseason with a winning record.
Despite being 1-3 on the season Banks is posting an ERA of 2.48, best of the starting rotation and enough to win you some games. Had 8Ks today and leads the team with 16. His 4 run outing against Minn. was his worst game. Just can't get the run support when he is on the mound.Banks pitched into the 9th, giving up only 4 hits, but his error was the runner who scored off of relief pitching. down 1-0 after 3. Pond hasn't given up a hit and the run is unearned. Only 2 hits for the offense. Where art thou sticks?
Just checked the score, Utes finally getting some runs, 5 runs in the 4th. Joe Pond having a good outing so far 1 run unearned on 1 hit, 5Ks through 5 innings. Utes lead 5-1 top of the 6th.
Up 5-2 after 6. 5 errors have led to 2 unearned runs.
Up 7-4 after 7 innings. Pond is probably done for the day. 7 IP 5 hits 4 runs, 2 earned and 7 K's
Now up 10-4 after 8. We only have 6 hits, but hey, 10 runs is 10 runs. I bet Banks would have taken 2 of those runs yesterday.
Utes pouring it on, Hunt with a 2 RBI triple followed by a Yagi RBI single, Utes up 14-4 2 out top of the 9th.
Trey Nielsen in to pitch, didn't know he was a pitcher, Ks the lead off batter to start the bottom of the 9th.
Final 14-4. This win guarantees at least a .500 record in the preseason, which is the first time in a long time.
Utah wins it 14-4, can win the series tomorrow. Go Utes.
Nielsen Ks 2 gives up 1 hit in the 9th.
Utah site says the game starts at 1:00pm (PT), SMC site says 2:55pm (PT). Since there is no link to the game it must be starting at 2:55pm (PT)

here's a game tracker ... there's an audio link on the Gaels website but it requires some registration that I didn't want to bother with.

Trey Neilsen is starting to hit his 2011 form. I hope he gets that moxie back as he can really be a middle of the lineup force for our team.
