According to the press conference this morning, Larry made it sound like Jones’ injury isn’t cooperating. Don’t think we see him tomorrow. Not sure about Saturday. The two week break will serve him well.

This is sad news. I was looking forward to this week's games.

    @Joshua_Newman

Rylan Jones participated in practice this afternoon, but only did some running. That means he didn't go full, so it's tough to see how he plays against Kentucky. Story coming.

I guess he did practice a bit today, so there is a chance he goes for a couple stretches tomorrow night but my guess is still no.

So maybe we are better than we think

Since no one beside me watched I'll just say ... Hell yeah!

Like the BYU game I didn’t think we had a chance, and so I didn’t feel like skipping Wednesday night pick-up ball to watch the game. Someone had it on their phone, and would shout out updates. I kept thinking they were just kidding me. Then when I confirmed, I assumed this young team would fold down the stretch.

I’m going to have to rethink my position on this team. I think they’ll still lose some games they shouldn’t and win some more they shouldn’t. But they are further ahead than I thought they’d be at this point.

I thought OOC the ceiling for this team was 5-7 wins. They have greatly exceeded my expectations.

Given that Utah was projected by KenPom to lose its next 8 in a row, this is a nice way to start that stretch.

    Utah's resume now includes:

Wins vs. Kentucky, Minnesota, BYU, Nevada, and sure, Ohio. Not too bad for a young squad.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I think playing one-and-done programs in Nov/Dec is not a bad idea. If these teams ever gel, it's not until conference play. Kentucky will surely be a very good team in March. Playing a team that relies on upperclassmen, on the other hand, seems like a bad idea. Gonzaga is rolling over all their freshmen opponents.

St. Mary's is thumping teams too. They blew out ASU in Phoenix last night. Makes you wonder what took Randy Bennett so long to actually schedule some teams?

It's trickier with Randy and St Mary's. Gonzaga has been genuinely great for a long time. They can schedule anyone without fear, knowing that they will win enough to get into the tournament.

St Mary's has been a bubble team for the past forever. If they schedule tough and lose, they risk missing the tournament. If they schedule weak and win, they leave no room for error in WCC play. They don't have any real opportunities in conference play to pad their resume other than the annual two Gonzaga losses.

Cal has some nice things to say about the Utes at the beginning of this.

What's the deal with Saturday's game? It's in LA, but we're listed as the home team?

It’s the basketball hall of fame classic, guessing we’re the designated hone team for the game

Thanks! It's a great opportunity. If we follow up the Kentucky game with an SDSU win, we will be solidly on the map.

I’m sticking my neck out and predicting the Utes win this. That spread and the ESPN predictor seem crazy. The Utes are on a roll, and they have some very underrated players.

That is what good defense looks like.

The wins against Minnesota, BYU and Kentucky were awesome, but if I am honest with myself, the SDSU outcome is closer to what I expected going into the season and what I expect once we hit PAC play.
