    March Madness began in 1979

It has been said by many that March Madness as we know it today began in 1979 in the Hunty. Magic Johnson and Larry Bird ushered in the big time.

I attended both games with my dad. The atmosphere certainly lived up to all the hype and anticipation. It was the highest TV rating for a college basketball game ever. That may still be the case.

I did some digging around and found my ticket stub. Here it is:

What a great piece of NCAA tournament history you have there. My dad and I were also there for all the games. I remember thinking after it was over, that the best game I saw during the Final Four was the semi-final between Indiana St. and DePaul. I also thought the best player I saw that weekend was that freshman from DePaul named Mark Aguirre.
