Mark Appel was picked 8th in last year's draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Big challenge for the Utes, offense has struggled, especially in PAC 12 play.

AJ Young with another hit in the top of the 4th, 2nd hit of the day, had a solo HR in the 2nd off of Appel, 2-2 on the night. Kid is batting 0.368.
Watrous with 2 Ks in the 4th, now has 6 on the night. Utes still trail 3-2, top of the 5th.
Chapman has struggled in PAC12 play, gave up 2 runs on 4 hits tonight in 1.2.

TJ Bennet Ks to end the game, Utes lose 6-4.
Bennett 0-5 and Nielson 0-4 in the middle of the lineup. Both came up on a few occasions with RISP. That was the difference in the game.

Watching the live feed it looked like Bennett's plate discipline was horrible, swinging at pitches he had no business swinging at.
Up 2-0 after 3. No hits so far. Pond is dealing only 3 hits, 5 K's.
So up 2-0 after 5. Anderson finally got our first hit. Stanford has 5 singles. Pond has 6 K's. And finally watching the feed, he is very good today. He has painted the corners well, and has induced alot of check swings on the strike outs.
Pond with 7 K's. Still 2-0 after the 6th. Would love to see the offense break out here.
