This is where not having Banks or Duke hurts. It keeps making us go to him.

Great outing by Dalton Carroll, gets the win, 6.1ip, 5h, 1r, 1er, 5Ks, pretty impressive for the freshman against a good Stanford team.

This was a big series for this team. After getting swept at home by Cal last weekend, it is nice to see them bounce back to win the series. The hitting is going to have to scrape through the year, it appears. But, the seeds of a Pac-12 competitive team are laid. Davis, Carroll x2, AJ Taylor, are all freshman, and account for arguably 3 of our best 4 hitters. Nielsen, Anderson, Yagi are solid upperclassmen that are capable Pac-12 players. If this coming recruiting class can add as much as this class has, man, we can make some real noise heading forward.

Interesting note from this weekend, is how little power Stanford displayed. Lots of grounders up the middle and line drives that didn't go deep down the field.

    For the weekend:

    33 hits- 30 singles, 2 doubles, and a triple.

    Utah, on the other hand:

    25 hits-19 singles, 4 doubles, and 2 home runs.

Anderson's average jumped from .237 to .286 in one game.

Davis went from .286 to .333

Utah pitching has only given up 4HR all season, two of those vs Cal.

If our defense improves through the season, our pitching has a chance to be lights out.
