West gives up a run off a triple and a sac fly. Tied 3-3 going to the top of the 7th. The difference between this year's team and last year is night and day.

Arizona scores an unearned run in the 2nd, 1-0 bottom of the 3rd.

  10. #10
Joe Pond getting roughed up, 2 RBI double and a 2 RBI triple, 5-0 Wildcats, 2 out bottom of the 3rd runner on 3rd.

  11. #11
Pond allows another run, then loads up the bases. Pitch count for this inning is at 37. Still 2 out, 6-0 bottom of the 3rd.

  12. #12
Utes get on the board with a Nielsen RBI double. 6-1 Wildcats, T4.

  15. #15
Another RBI double for the Utes, Hunt's double scores Relf from 3rd. 6-3 Wildcats, 0 out T5.

Pond is done after walking the lead off batter in the B5. FR Bret Helton to pitch. 6-3 B5, runner on 1st 0 out.

  18. #18
Helton's debut as a pitcher, walks first 2 batters faced, bases loaded 0 out, B5.

  19. #19
Helton is struggling. Walked two to load the bases. Banks and Duke's injuries are causing problems with bullpen depth, esp when you consider that we have played 3 extra inning games in the last 5 games as well.

Mordini last pitched on 2/17, has only 1 game appearance.

Well that was a pitching disaster, Utes lose 15-4. Through all that we didn't give up a HR (only given up 5 HRs in 24 games), 3 dbls, 2 triples and 4 errors didn't help.

We matched Arizona on Hits (10), couldn't produce with RISP.

  24. #24
0-0 tie, middle of the 5th. We have had RISP in 3 innings, but can't get a run home.

From my calculation we were 2-16 with RISP, only one of those hits resulted in a score. This team Ks too much, 8 on the day, 27 for the series.
