A Tradition Unlike Any Other - The Masters 2013

Day two is under way down in Augusta. Sergio Garcia was just one stroke off the lead heading into the day, but has since fallen back with a +3 performance so far (that's the sergio we know!).

Tiger finished his day -2 and is set to tee off here in the next 30 min or so, should be a fun weekend.

Other notables playing well so far: Dustin Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Freddie Couples.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Last I heard, Couples and Tiger tied with Lieshman and Day for the lead right now at the end of round 2 with Tiger and Day on the final hole.

    Yep. Day in at -6.

Would love to see Freddie Couples make a run.

    Is Tiger about DQ himself?

Tiger assessed a 2 stroke penalty after he signed his score card, and n. Many are calling for him to DQ himself for the honor of the game.

The committee just released a statement. They reviewed the video during the round as a result of a tv viewer. Reporting the infraction. The decided during the round there was no penalty. Tiger finished the round, signed the card, and then stated in an interview that he did drop further back.

The committee reviewed again based on what Tiger said, and even met with him. They ruled to assess a two stroke penalty and waived disqualification based on a new rule put in place last year for tv viewers reporting violations.

Some golf pundits are saying this is not a correct application of the new rule. Tiger violated the rule (drop must be as near as possible from the original shot) on purpose to gain an advantage, not out of ignorance.

They seem to think tiger might still be considering DQ'ing himself. If he doesn't, it will be interesting to hear his rationalize way or the other.

Ironically, the Golf Channel, between discussion on the issue, had a commercial where a basketball player admits to his coach that he was the last to touch the ball, which would give the other team the ball at the end of the game. "Sportsmanship, pass it on!"
