Comic relief: students and parents in China riot against teachers fighting cheating

One of the great culture clashes between China and the US is the issue of intellectual property. Western corporations who locate manufacturing in China have often discovered their intellectual property has been stolen by the Chinese, in a national effort to help the Middle Kingdom reclaim its rightful place as the world's most powerful nation.

We've seen some of this in the Chinese students who come to the US for their college educations. There's a very curious - but evidently common - sentiment among Chinese students that "if you're not cheating, you're not trying hard enough". There have been instances of quite a few Chinese students being kicked out of US universities for cheating.

With this as background, the following story out of the UK about a riot instigated by highschool students and their parents against teachers who were proctoring college entrance exams is revealing, and (at least by my twisted sense of humor) pretty damn funny.

"We want fairness. There is no fairness if you do not let us cheat."

This sounds like a Monty Python movie. Wowser.
